Biography:

Dr. Nagam is an Associate Professor in the department of Art History at the University of Winnipeg. She is the inaugural Artistic Director for 2020/21 for Nuit Blanche Toronto, the largest public exhibition in North America. Dr. Nagam is the Director of the Aabijijiwan New Media Lab and the Co-Director of the Kishaadigeh Collaborative Research Centreaabijijiwanmedialab.ca

Dr. Nagam's SSHRC research includes digital makerspaces + incubators, mentorship, digital media + design, international collaborations and place-based knowledge. She is the Principal Investigator of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant “The Space Between Us: Co(lab)orations within Indigenous, Circumpolar and Pacific Places Through Digital Media and Design.” She is a co-investigator on a number of SSHRC Partnership Grants. As part of the partnership在itiative for Indigenous Futures,Nagam博士组织并主持了2017年研讨会The Future is Indigenous(https://indigenousfutures.net/symposia/3rd-annual-symposium/). Dr. Nagam has an active curatorial and artistic practice. She co-curated the exhibitions聚集在Moana对面at Trinity Video and TMAC galleries in partnership with imagineNATIVE and在surgence/Resurgence—the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s largest ever exhibition of contemporary Indigenous art. Most recently, Dr. Nagam curatedin Pursuit of Venus [infected]at the Art Gallery of Ontario (2019-20). She is curating public artwork at the Forks with the Winnipeg Foundation. Her artistic work has been exhibited internationally, including in Brazil, France, New Zealand, and England. Which includes solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally,

Dr. Nagam has been an Adjunct Faculty Member at York University (2013-2019), OCAD University (2015-2019), and the University of Manitoba (2015-2020). She has been a scholar in residence at Concordia University and Massey University (2018-19) and, in 2022, will be a fellow at the University of Sydney. She holds a PhD in Social and Political Thought from York University.
