Dr. Angela Failler, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Women's and Gender Studies has earned one of the highest honours, the recognition and esteem of her students and colleagues as a teacher. She is persistently described as one of the top educators of her generation and is an accomplished and dedicated educationalist.

Her dedication to promoting academic rigor and achievement in her students is unsurpassed. Named UWinnipeg's Chancellor's Research Chair 2012, demonstrates Failler as a leader in her field of study. Her commitment is infectious and she inspires many of her students to push farther than they thought possible, including furthering their academic studies.

Failler's research illuminates the systemic discrimination and silencing of disenfranchised groups which she incorporates in her teaching and class work. She involves her students in a deeper understanding of theories in a real world context with the intent and responsibility to create the impetus for social change against oppressive elements of society.
