Project Management

The Facilities Planning Office is responsible for capital projects and renovations on campus.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Departmental requests for changes to buildings, including special projects related to research grants
  • Remodelling or renovating classrooms, labs, offices, or common spaces
  • Installation of specialized equipment
  • Building envelope changes such as window or wall panel replacements

  • Develop and maintain the overall project plan and schedule
  • Apply project management best practices underPMI standards
  • Ensure all Provincial codes and regulations are met
  • Follow University purchasing policies and standards
  • Manage all stakeholders involved
  • Maintain a safe environment for workers, faculty, staff, students, and the community
  • Oversee project communication, among other processes such as risk mitigation

Other services provided by the Facilities Planning Office include:

  • Mapping (fire plans, directories, and campus key plans)
  • Office layouts and furniture plans
  • Space information requests
  • Administration of all University building drawings, records, and master specifications
  • Overall compilation of sustainability data including rating system implementation such as LEED

Any tendering or pre-qualification questions need to go throughpurchasing@uwinnipeg.ca.

Any changes to space on campus must be pre-approved and may need to go through the Space Committee for approval.
