Biography:

Isabell teaches German language and culture at Memorial University of Newfoundland and at the University of Winnipeg. She holds an MA in German literature from the Heinrich-Heine University of Duesseldorf/Germany and a PhD from the University of Calgary.

Her research situates itself at the intersection of cultural studies, translation theory, and musicology. Herapproach builds on Brigid Cohen’suse of the “transnational” as a new category, which includes international connections, interrelations and collaborations as factors to be considered when investigating art history.The purpose of her interdisciplinary research is to examine what happens when aesthetic objects move from their place of origin to new places in the twentieth century.
