UWinnipeg student competes in 3MT Western Regional Finals

UWinnipeg student Ada Chukwudozie is gearing up to compete in the 2021 Western Regional Three Minute Thesis 3MT® on Wednesday, May 13, at 2:00 pm CDT.

This year’s competition, hosted by Athabasca University, will take place virtually. Competitors have a chance to move on to the National 3MT™.

Chukwudozie is working toward a MDP in Indigenous Development. Shewon top prizeat UWinnipeg’s 3MT competition in March 2021 for her presentation,Exploring the Idea of “land back” as the Answer to Achieving Sustainable Self-Determination.

“My paper aims to explore the idea of sustainable self-determination and the concept of true reconciliation using the ‘land back’ argument which provides a real opportunity for the implementation of sustainable Indigenous self-determination when analyzed against the framework of consent-based jurisdiction and Indigenous reclamation,” she said.

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition is a research communication competition that challenges students to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance in just three minutes using language that a non-specialist audience can understand.

“I’m looking forward to hearing other people’s presentations and the networking opportunities this opportunity provides because there are really interesting people presenting” she said.

The University of Winnipeg’s Faculty of Graduate Studies is encouraging everyone to join them in supporting Chukwudozie as she participates in the2021 Western Regional Three Minute Thesis 3MT®competition.
