Val is an anthropologist with interests in museum anthropology, archaeology and cultural anthropology. She has excavated at precontact and historic sites in Manitoba, has had experience with repatriation, and the restoration of collections provenance. Val’s work has also included the development of hands-on learning experiences for undergraduate students, and exhibits for the Museum’s display vitrine. Recently Val has been working on visual-to-verbal note-taking as a method of material culture research and cataloguing. She received her BA Honours (with distinction) in Anthropology from the University of Toronto, and her MA in Anthropology from the University of Manitoba.

Jodi Schmidt is an Anthropology Museum collections technician at the University of Winnipeg. She holds undergraduate degrees in Biology and Anthropology from the University of Winnipeg and a Master’s degree in Anthropology from Trent University. Her background is in bioanthropology and archaeology.
