Two Faces Of Poverty Conference Open To Public

WINNIPEG, MB – Please run the following public service announcement until Monday, November 3, 2008:

The University of Winnipeg’s Global College is hosting an important conference in November based on the report of the United Nations Commission on Legal Empowerment of the Poor.

The conference will be held November 3 and 4, 2008 at the UWinnipeg campus. Members of the public are invited to register free of charge.

Based on the UN report entitled “Making the Law Work for Everyone,” the Winnipeg conference will focus on Two Faces of Poverty:原住民andWomen. Join participants for two days of provocative presentations and workshops. Speakers include local as well as international experts such asBev Jacobs, President of the Native Womens’ Association of Canada;Lloyd AxworthyPresident and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Winnipeg and member of the Commission on the Legal Empowerment of the Poor; andAshraf Ghani, Former Finance Minister of Afghanistan, Chancellor, Kabul University and member of the Commission on the Legal Empowerment of the Poor.
